What is going on with Cha-Ching development?
It seems to be taking such a long time for the next BETA release to come out let alone the final product.
The iPhone and Desktop versions behave differently, the Desktop version has some flaws which make it tough to use on a daily basis, and we are constantly promised these features and new betas soon, but nothing comes...
You offered the beta early to people who emailed the beta@ address which I did 3 days ago now and yet no response. If what you have written is to be believed, this new beta will feature an improved scheduler, abilitiy to schedule transfers, tracking income, better handling of payees...!
Something I sorely need is the ability to see future scheduled transactions under All Transactions. Is this planned?
The UI could do with some improvements, namely the top toolbar - it's really good at the moment but not quite in the league of say, Things by Cultured Code. Is this planned?
I think Cha-Ching's UI sets it apart from the other Finance apps but the incomplete feature set and frequency of updates really lets it down.
I'm really sorry for this rant. I'd love to be able to pay for and love this app but until things improve I'm afraid I won't be able to.

Inappropriate?guess what Joe, I have paid and I just as much in the dark as you are. Hopefully soon we'll get something worth all this waiting.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Guess what Hazim and Joe , I have paid for it too, I dropped Cha-Ching beta version longtime ago. Im still waiting for the update, because I really like Cha-Ching ́s interface. Mean while I use Ibank , and Ibank for iphone.
Do anyone know if Cha-Ching is working with Snow Leopard ?? -
Inappropriate?Cha-Ching development is moving forward rapidly. We have a new beta that is set to go out that adds many new features and increases stability especially around budgeting.
We can't release the next beta until Apple finally approves the next version of the touch application.
We have been waiting for over a month now. The whole situation is very very frustrating. -
I can only imagine how frustrating it is. The company I work for submitted our first app to Apple on the 9th, on Wednesday the boss asked if we had heard anything from Apple and I just burst out laughing because of the ridiculous time things like Cha-Ching, Dropbox & Spotify have taken to get any response. But sure enough we got a response yesterday afternoon and it was published late last night, which makes this own thing even more frustrating. >_< -
Inappropriate? You had mentioned in another post that you would send the new beta to users if they requested it. I would love to use the new one as I am increasingly frustrated with the current beta and don't use the iPhone app. Is that offer still available?
-
Yes... If you have emailed beta@midnightapps.com we will be sending out a new desktop beta soon. (In the next day or so) -
Inappropriate?Hi Juan Alvarez, Can you tell me if Cha-Ching will work with Snow Leopard 10.6.1 ? I look forward to use Cha-Ching again.
I’m okay
-
It already works with SL for me -
Hi Rebel in Blue - is there are you talking about Cha-Ching 2 B99 (Beta) -
Yes B99 -
Inappropriate? We have spent the last 3 weeks on lots of small tweaks with Snow Leopard in mind. The next beta build will be a full on 64 bit Snow Leopard compatible build.
-
Inappropriate?I would love more than anything for basic charts and reporting to make it into Cha-Ching soon.
-
Inappropriate?New build is available now. Lots of new stuff for you guys to try out.
-
Inappropriate?:-/ I don't like the interface straight off on this new build, since it hides the accounts behind an "All Accounts" screen. Why don't we still have the list of accounts with their current balances shown in the left bar like before? That was better. I also liked the "All Transactions" view, which is now gone too.
Also, you can't just double-click the account's name or box in that new view, you have to click a tiny little arrow-in-a-circle on the right.
I also noticed that negative balances are now shown with a negative sign vs. parenthesis (just to inform people, I don't mind either way). This also includes the new payee drop-down list functionality, but I haven't played with it yet.
Oh, and I found a bug on that new accounts screen. I don't know what caused it, but after clicking around a bit (into and out of accounts, into the Payees screen, etc.) and back to the "All Accounts" screen, now the sections (Checking, Savings, etc.) are separated by tons of white space (see attached image, account balances blacked out for privacy
).

Inappropriate? All transactions will be coming back as an item in the all accounts view. Additonally, we are adding a section called "favorites" to the Cha-Ching sidebar (source list) that will allow you to designate a subset of your accounts as favorites and have quick access to them in the sidebar like before.
Having all accounts in the sidebar was getting very unwieldy for users with many many accounts. The longer you use Cha-Ching the more cluttered the sidebar becomes (Some users are tracking upwards of 20 accounts in Cha-Ching now) so we are taking steps to make it better for all users.
